Student Expectations
Behaviour and Expectations
At Strinesdale, high expectations of behaviour are non-negotiable. Every student is expected to follow our 7 Academy Rules, rooted in our RISE principles
-
We treat others with respect
-
We are punctual
-
We bring all essential items
-
We wear the full and correct uniform
-
We ensure mobile phones are not seen or heard
-
We do not eat, drink (except water), or chew gum in classrooms or corridors
-
We transition through the academy calmly
Students who break rules will be issued with consequences including detentions, time in our Study Room, or suspensions, depending on the severity and frequency of the behaviour. Please see our behaviour policy for more information.
We believe in high expectations, kindness, and support. Our RISE principles Respect, Integrity, Success and Endeavour shape everything we do.
What We Expect from Students
To create a calm, safe and positive learning environment, we ask every student to do 7 things:
- Treat others with respect and kindness
- Be punctual, prepared and ready to learn
- Wear the full correct uniform every day
- Bring essential items: pen, pencil, ruler, reading book and planner
- Move around school silently and safely
- Keep mobile phones, headphones, and smart devices out of sight and switched off
- Follow instructions first time, every time
What We Do Not Tolerate
We take a zero-tolerance approach to:
- Bullying, racism, homophobia, and sexual harassment
- Bringing banned or dangerous items into school
- Persistent disruption, truancy, or refusal to follow rules
- Inappropriate use of social media that causes harm to others
- Violence or physical behaviour to others
Consequences range from behaviour points and detentions to time in our Study Room, suspensions, and in serious cases, permanent exclusions.
We also put in place off site direction placements for students to support the correction of behaviour following serious or persistent incidents.
How We Celebrate Success
We love to recognise students who make great choices every day:
- Merits and RISE Cards
- Postcards and phone calls home
- Golden Tickets
- Weekly and termly celebration assemblies
- End-of-term and end-of-year rewards trips
- Group pizza parties
- Positive Report Cards for those turning things around
Working Together
We believe behaviour is a shared responsibility. We ask families to:
- Support our behaviour expectations
- Let us know of any changes at home that might affect your child
- Attend meetings and work with us to support your child’s success
Need Support?
Every student is unique. If your child needs extra help with behaviour or SEND, we will work closely with you to make reasonable adjustments and offer pastoral or specialist support. Let’s help every student feel safe, supported, and ready to achieve.
