Learning continues beyond the classroom. Our approach empowers students to become Knowledgeable and Expert Learners by helping them to build effective study habits and developing their independence. It also enables families, students and school to work together to ensure limitless possibilities for all. Activities are linked to new knowledge and skills taught in school to enable students to know and remember more, preparing them for examination success.

Students complete independent tasks weekly, both online and on paper.

Core platforms:

• Y7-9 Sparx Reader (30 Mins per week)
• Y7-9 Sparx Maths (30 Mins per week)
• Y8 & 9 Sparx Science (30 Mins per week)

Techniques taught:

• Look, Cover, Write, Check
• Flashcards and Leitner System
• Retrieval practice and low-stakes quizzing

In Years 7-9, other subjects set independent learning tasks that can be completed for additional rewards.

For Years 10-11, Independent Learning is assigned in all subjects.
